An Empty Chair is a publishing platform that encourages a reader-writer network for non-native speakers of any language.
The project is a collaboration between Jo Wu and her mother Lee-Mei Hsieh. The duo communicates with a specific body language, laughter, and researches the role it plays within domestic memories.
Jo created the website in 2020. Since then, she has invited Lee-Mei and others in her life to write and make works that touch upon the topics of relationships, family, and memories of water.
